Dave Silbar
“Straightest Hitter this side of the Mississippi”

A former scribe for the Chicago Tribune, where he worked from 1988-1994 and helped lend coverage to every professional golf tournament that passed through town. Events covered included the 1989 PGA Championship where Payne Stewart outplayed Mike “Radar” Reid and the U.S. Open at Medinah a year later which helped put Hale Irwin and his high fives on the map.

Silbar currently serves as Vice-President of Glenview-based Merton G. Silbar Public Relations, where he oversees a myriad of golf and non-golf related accounts including Stonewall Orchard Golf Club in Grayslake, Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, The Lodge of Four Seasons Golf Resort & Spa Shiki in Lake of the Ozarks, MO and Crain’s Chicago Business.

A Professional Golf Management major at one point during his college days, Silbar has since whittled his index close to scratch and can often be seen competing on the Chicago District Golf Association tournament circuit. Getting back into tournament golf in 2006 after a 20 years hiatus, Dave qualified and competed in the 2007 Illinois State Amateur.

Dave resides in the north suburbs where his nighttime job as husband, father of three daughters, softball coach and amateur photographer keeps him up late into the evening.

Dave “Links” Lockhart

Dave’s love affair with the game of golf began in the 1970’s when he saw Jack Nicklaus tearing up the PGA Tour on the old television set. Soon there after he picked up some sticks and began trying to figure out this maddening sport….and yes, he’s still at it. Growing up in Rogers Park nice courses were tricky to find. He ended up honing his game at the “Muni’s” like Waveland, and Forest Preserve tracks such as Chick Evans. These days “Links” plays as much as he can, maintaining an 8 handicap.

In 1994 Dave started The Golf Scene on the old Sportschannel. From being the Producer, writer, editor, and occasional on-air talent he just about did it all.

2002 marked the beginning of Golf Chicago on TV. Currently on Comcast Sports Net the show has garnered three Golf Show of the Year awards from The International Network of Golf.

Dave has had the privilege of interviewing some of the greats such as Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods, Lee Trevino, Nancy Lopez, Phil Mickelson, Colin Montgomerie, and Fred Couples. The TV shows also opened up opportunities to play golf around the world, teeing it up at exotic locations like Costa Rica, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Ireland, and Scotland.

“Links” has also spent some time caddying in the off-season having looped at a couple of prestigious clubs down in Florida, McArthur and Seminole. He also gave California a try at The Preserve and arguably the best course in America, Cypress Point.

All of this history has molded Dave into the golf guru that he is. Ask him about any course in the Chicagoland area and he can give you the skinny…and I’m not just talking about your wedge play!

Jeremy Berrington

Jeremy grew up as part of the Tiger Woods generation and Tiger’s impact on the game shaped his perspective on all things golf. Born in Evanston, he was a four-time member of the Deerfield High School Golf Team. On the collegiate level, Jeremy played on the LaTrobe University Golf Team in Melbourne, Australia where he helped the team to a second place finish at the 2003 University Games in Sydney.

He is currently a 3 handicap at Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer where he enjoys a weekly game with his Dad Howie. Jeremy is constantly looking for ways to beat co-host Dave Silbar and take home a CDGA title.

In addition to his radio job, Jeremy is an Account Executive for Silbar Public Relations serving clients such as TopGolf, Stonewall Orchard Golf Club, the Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, MO and Grand Geneva Resort and Spa. He is also a contributor to Golf Chicago! Magazine.

Jeremy lives in Roscoe Village with his wife Ana who is learning to play the game.
